The Hull

Before the 2003 season I had the many seasons of the old bottom paint removed. The 2 step epoxy bottom paint installed by Dick Stayle at the Cherokee factory.  In 2004 I had all the bozo decals and lettering removed.  The boat was buffed to it's original condition.  A new rub-rail was installed and I had new interior cushions made.  I had a Linex type floor professionally installed.  This durable floor will provide many seasons of usage and looks great! The cost for the above mentioned improvements pushed 6 grand.  This is a boat I can be proud to sell.  This boat has been extremely good to me and I want the new owner to be proud of his investment.

The Motors

I re-powered this boat before the 2003 season with re-manufactured motors from Pro Power Marine.  I had a problem with their re-mans.  So, I had the original motors re-built by "Manistee Mike W" who specializes in small block GMs in 2004.  Mike has his own complete machine shop at his house and has been rebuilding these motors since the 1970s.  He's top-notch and well respected for his skills.  The new parts installed were fuel lines, exhaust hoses, starters, fuel pumps, water pumps, cams, pistons, rings, valves, etc.  At the present time these brand new motors have been test run to set the timing and have less then 10 minutes on them! The new motors are being installed this week.

Is this you?

Please let me speak frankly.  I know of no Cherokee in the size I'm offering to be sold for less then 25K and these were raggedy, beat-on models with blown engines and, or vessels in very poor condition, requiring a ton of work.  I know that $39,900.00 is a fair price for the quality and the like-new condition of my boat.  The base price on a new Cherokee is $108,000.00 that does not include the factory options my vessel has been equipped with.  I figure to replace my boat, trailer and the equipment package the cost would push a 150K......reel-fact!

I also know October is not the prime-time to sell a boat.  That's why I offering a before January 1, 2005 price, after that, the price goes up.  Have your mind made up to pay what I'm listing the boat for.  Haggling is something I don't have time for, so don't waste my time by offering less then what I am asking.  I've spent at least 11K for the 2004 upgrades and the total facelift of this vessel.  I am enormously proud of the way this boat looks.  Seldom, if ever do you see a Cherokee for sale.  This speaks for the demand for this type of boat!

I will be posting more photos as work progresses on my boat.  The boat can be viewed in Kaleva, Michigan.  Dick Stayle's new shop is located across from water tower in Kaleva's Industrial Park.  10% deposit is required for me to take this boat off the market.  I will be more then happy to help you water test this boat and show you how it fishes.  As a matter of fact, parting with this craft is one of the hardest things I've ever done.  However, being in the tackle manufacturing business leaves little time for anything else!
