Harbor Beach 9/24/04

Salmon fishing is good to excellent fishing inside and outside the harbor. The four year olds are starting to come into the harbor so you will want to use some body baits or spawn for best results. Cast some cleos too. If you are going outside the harbor for the two and three year olds, you will want to try along the wall, around the light house gap, and move out to 40 to 70 feet of water as the sun comes up for best results. Try using spoons with some black and raspberry colors or purples and blacks. Running them 50 feet back and 40 feet down has been working well for the Salmon. Fish South of the harbor straight out and North for best results. Try putting some sliders on the lines for those fish that are up high.

Steelhead are being taken mixed in with the Salmon on the same lures and in the same water depths. Keep an eye open for those color lines and work them for best results.

Lake Trout are still being taken mixed in along with the Salmon on the same lures. Put some bells and spin and glows down on the bottom if you want some of those bigger ones. You can keep these until the end of this month!

Walleye is slow, but a few are being taken around the walls on body baits.

Bass and Pike are inside the harbor around the weed beds, cast those body baits for best results.

Perch fishing is slow, try South down by the cemetery in 25 to 45 feet of water using minnows.

That should cover it for this week,
keep those lines tight!

Captain John- I never had a chance to "Thank You" for the seminar two weeks ago. I had never attended anything like that before. It was great, very informative and very professional. Sorry my guest and I had to leave early so we did not stay around till the complete end. Thanks again.

I also wanted to send you a Fishing Report. Fished out of Au Gres last Friday evening from about 5:00pm -10:00pm. My buddy and I picked up 5 very nice walleye all weighing over 8lbs. Each fish hit on a Fire Tiger J18. The bite wasn't great but we picked up one fish every hour to keep us interested. I was amazed that each fish was a female and that they had all spawned out.

On Saturday morning we fished for Brown's in Tawas. We put in behind the State Police Post. We fished way south of the boat launch. We had 6 releases from 7:00 am - 9:15 am. Unfortunately we lost 2 at the boat netting. The 4 browns weighed in between 6 - 12lbs. Each fish hit on the Fire Tiger J13. We ran them between 100 - 150 feet back. We were using 4 birds and they seemed to be targeting the birds located the farthest from the boat. We fished in 7 - 15 feet of water.

I hope this helps with your fish reporting page.

Thanks Soup aka.......Capt. Todd C.
