The TrollMaster is a high performance marine alternator specially built for the demanding tasks of the trolling marine environment.  Radar, heaters, graphs, GPS, temp probes, bilge pumps, lights, riggers and refrigerators can demand more amperage at slow trolling speeds then your present alternator can handle.  This is where the distinct advantage of upgrading to a TrollMaster comes in play.  To achieve the slow trolling speeds of 2mph and less required by our Great Lakes Fishery most boats troll down to around 600 rpms, where your present charging system kicks out approximately around 12 amps.  At the same 600 rpms the TrollMaster kicks out 24 to 36 amps depending on the application.

In my re-powering of my 1987 Cherokee project I chose to go with the TrollMaster built by Mike at Manistee Auto Electric here in Manistee, Michigan.  My reasoning was, if it's going to cost 100 bucks to have my old 8000 hour alternators rebuilt, meaning re-manufactured units.  So, for an additional $150 I got at least twice the charging system and brand new TrollMasters with a one year warranty.  I paid $258.50 for the "small block" Chevy 350 Crusader version of the TrollMaster.  Prices range on Ford and Chrysler marine engines up to $298.

Not being towed in and another lost day of fishing is the best reason to upgrade.  I've spoke with several persons who've had purchased the TrollMaster in the past and found absolutely no grumbles, only acclaim.  Especially, those with single screws were the most convinced!

In my dealings with Mike I have nothing but praise in the 2, or 3 years in my getting to know him.  He stand behinds what he does from my personal experience.  Case in point, I took my 1996 Ford pick-up to him to have the starter changed.  He did so on very short notice too.
Well, about 9 months later the solenoid was acting up.  No questions asked, he installed a brand new re-manufactured starter before I could ask him what the cost would be.  The cost was me thanking him, because he would not accept any of my money for the job.  Now, you gotta go a long-ways in today's way of doing business to find someone like Mike.

Also, as things stand, I'm not receiving any money for my endorsement, or special price for the TrollMaster, or for this page as of 2/20/03..........reel-fact!
